A Pressing Matter, Concourse Gallery at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Minneapolis, MN.

This collaborative project between Piotr Szyhalski/Labor Camp and the student-run artist collective the People's Library turns the second floor of MCAD into a public and communal printing space.

In the wake of the 2016 presidential inauguration and in the spirit of fostering communal solidarity, the People's Library created images and visual slogans throughout the months of January and February to be displayed in storefronts, at protests, and in both public and private spaces around and beyond the Twin Cities.

The practice of communally printing posters for and with community members has continued since this exhibition. The People’s Library has since worked with or for the Goethe Pop up, Native Youth Arts Collective (NYAC), Angela Conley, Walker Art Center Teen Council (WACTAC), Sarah White, Sprog, SWOP, Rise for Climates Jobs and Justice, The Whittier Alliance, and for numerous actions.

Academic Censure, 148 Gallery at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Through this exhibition the People’s Library dissected and analyzed the relationships between the money and labor that is invested in MCAD. Participating artists were posed with the question: we invest $139,504 into the Minneapolis College of Art and Design as undergraduate students, how much does MCAD invest in us? Through this basic inquiry, participating artists can begin to analyze relationships of power between investor (student) and product (education) while highlighting wage inequality in higher education.
